Duszniki-Zdrój - 15 km from San Remo

The town in the valley of Bystrica Dusznicka, composed of two parts: the historical center and a spa.

At the turn of the 10th and 11th century a wooden fortress was built here, which over time was rebuilt into a stone castle. The first mention of Duszniki come from the 14th century, where due to the location of German law, the town received city rights.

In the 15th century, appeared first medicinal water sources Cold Zdroj (Zimny Zdrój), the trade developed as well as the paper industry and weaving.

In the middle of the 18th century the first studies of mineral water were made, and the city became an official spa. Other sources of healing waters were discovered: Summer Zdroj (Letni Zdrój) and Source Ulryki. The resulting were first bathing devices, new bathrooms (now Institute of Natural Medicine), palm house and a concert hall (today Pijalnia Zdrojowa).

Museum of Papermaking in Duszniki is the only museum in Poland conducted in a professional manner dedicated to the broader subject of papermaking. It collects, develops and provides collections on the history of papermaking, printing and the history of Duszniki Zdroj.

A keen interest is the art of paper, collaborating with artists working with paper.

In Duszniki-Zdroj, you can visit, among other things:

  • Museum of Papermaking with the mill Bystrica Dusznicka from 1965. To this day a handmade paper is produced here. The museum provides visitors with exhibitions devoted to the history of paper,
  • Spa with mineral springs (“Pieniawa Chopin,” “Jan Kazimierz”, “Agata”, “Jacek”, “B-4”). Duszniki-Zdroj has a full range of medical services,
  • Castle ruins,
  • Church of Sts. Peter and Paul from the 14th century,
  • Chopin Manor – located in the Spa Park, built between 1802-1805 as a social house, where was focused the cultural life of the contemporary spa.
