Stołowe Mountains - Szczeliniec Wielki

Szczeliniec Wielki - 14 km from San Remo

Najwyższy szczyt (919 metrów n.p.m.) Gór Stołowych, znajdujący się na terenie Parku Narodowego.

The highest peak (919 m) of Stołowe Mountains, located in the National Park.

It is Europe’s largest mountain built of unfolded sandstone.

The peak is considered the most important attraction of Stołowe Mountains on the Polish side. The deepest gap is Hell (30 m deep). The rock formations on Szczeliniec resemble different forms and shapes (among other things: Camel, Horsehead, Hen, Ape, Elephant, Cradle). Inside the corridors there is a great atmosphere, and in some places the snow is appearing until July.

The main starting point for Szczeliniec is the village Karlow. At the peak leads a tortuous trail. Along the way, there is a tourist hostel of the 19th century called Swiss (Szwajcarka). On the panoramic terrace are also tables dedicated to the entrance to Szczeliniec by J. W. Goethe (0829/1790) and the future US president J.Q. Adams (08/26/1800).

On the route are several terraces (including Fotel Liczyrzepy with the view on Giant Mountains (Karkonosze) and south-eastern terraces with views of the mountains Bystrzyckie, Orlickie, Bialskie, Złote and Bardzkie).
